Education Dept. Probes Universities for Scholarship Bias

The U.S. Department of Education is investigating five universities for allegedly violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act by offering scholarships exclusively to DACA or undocumented students. The investigations, prompted by complaints from the Legal Insurrection Foundation’s Equal Protection Project, allege national origin discrimination against American-born students. The affected universities include the University of Louisville, University of Nebraska Omaha, University of Miami, University of Michigan, and Western Michigan University. The investigation will also examine additional scholarships potentially violating Title VI based on race and color.
