Kioxia unveiled the LC9 SSD, boasting an astounding 245.76TB capacity in a 2.5-inch form factor. Utilizing 2Tb QLC NAND dies and BiCS FLASH generation 8 NAND, this drive significantly surpasses current 3.5-inch hard drive capacities. While not ideal for random write workloads, its sequential read/write performance makes it suitable for specific applications. This massive capacity, achieved by stacking 32 8TB packages, allows for substantial data storage in compact server configurations, potentially replacing multiple hard drives.
