The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is down to two candidates for its next executive director: JC Tretter and Don Davis. Tretter currently holds majority support following a player representative meeting. The selection process follows the resignation of Lloyd Howell, whose tenure was marked by controversy including a confidentiality agreement with the NFL and concerns about a conflict of interest. An interim executive director will be chosen by a vote of player representatives, with the full-time position's election timetable yet to be determined. The league anticipates the interim role will not be a stepping stone to the permanent position.
