Kyle Schwarber led the National League to a 4-3 victory over the American League in the All-Star Game swing-off. After a 6-6 tie, Schwarber homered on all three of his swings, overcoming a two-homer deficit. This marked the first time a swing-off decided an All-Star game and Schwarber became the first non-pitcher MVP without a hit. The new format, implemented to conserve pitchers, involves three batters from each league taking three swings each.
