Simon John Mariani, a 28-year-old golfer, died Monday after being struck by lightning last week while participating in a golf tournament at Ballyowen Golf Course in New Jersey. Witnessed by fellow golfer Brian Delia, the incident occurred on July 8th at the 15th hole. Mariani received immediate CPR from fellow golfers and his father before paramedics arrived. He was described in his obituary as driven, dedicated, and talented, and is survived by his family.
