Extreme heat forced the temporary closure of the Acropolis in Athens on Tuesday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., due to safety concerns for visitors and staff. Temperatures soared to 107°F (42°C). This is not the first heat-related closure this year. While the current heatwave has subsided, future closures are possible during peak temperatures. The Acropolis, a major tourist attraction, typically sees up to 20,000 visitors daily. Visitors are advised to check the site's website for updates before their visit.
