Samsung is absorbing increased production costs for its new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 foldable phones, opting for minimal price increases to boost sales. This strategy, according to mobile head TM Roh, aims to expand the foldable phone market and democratize AI experiences. The decision comes despite rising manufacturing costs from components like the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Exynos 2500, and pressure from competitors like Huawei, which dominates the Chinese market with its tri-fold Mate XT. Samsung is also reportedly preparing its own tri-fold device for a possible late 2024 launch.
