WWII Cruiser's Wreck Found: Coconut Bow Voyage Revealed

The wreckage of the USS New Orleans, a US Navy cruiser severely damaged during a World War II battle, has been discovered in the Solomon Islands. Hit by a Japanese torpedo, the ship lost its bow and over 180 crew members. Remarkably, the crew used coconut logs to create a makeshift bow and sailed the vessel 1,800 miles backwards to Australia for repairs. The discovery, made by the Nautilus Live expedition, sheds light on the incredible resourcefulness and resilience of the crew.
