TSA Ends Mandatory Shoe Removal at Select Airports

Several US airports have ended the mandatory shoe removal policy during standard security checks. The change, confirmed by sources and seemingly phased, affects airports including Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale, Cincinnati, Portland, Philadelphia, and Piedmont Triad. While TSA PreCheck members were already exempt, this impacts regular screening lines. The TSA stated they are exploring ways to improve passenger experience while maintaining security. The policy, enacted after the 2001 shoe-bombing attempt, is now relaxed in select locations.
