Five Israeli soldiers from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion were killed and 14 injured in a Gaza explosion Monday night. The soldiers were on foot patrol near Beit Hanoun when an explosive device detonated, followed by gunfire. This is the deadliest single incident in Gaza since another explosion two weeks prior. The death toll for Israeli soldiers in the current conflict has risen to 888. Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers.
