Giant Saber-Toothed Cat Species Discovered in North America | JQJO

Researchers have identified a new species of giant saber-toothed cat, *Machairodus lahayishupup*, that roamed North America 5-9 million years ago. Weighing up to 900 pounds, this predator hunted animals 1,000-2,000 pounds. Unlike previous identifications relying on teeth, this discovery utilized forearm bone analysis, revealing uniquely large humeri. The find raises questions about the independent evolution of giant saber-toothed cats across continents.
