Republican Congressman Bacon Retires, Eyes Executive Role | JQJO

Rep. Don Bacon, a vulnerable Republican, announced he won't seek re-election in 2024, citing a lack of desire for another grueling campaign. He hasn't ruled out future executive roles, potentially running for Nebraska governor or even president in 2028. Bacon, who has openly criticized President Trump, emphasized his decision wasn't influenced by threats or political feuds, but rather a desire for more family time and a change of pace. His retirement is significant, given his position as one of the few Republicans willing to publicly challenge Trump.
