NYC Mayoral Candidate Faces Backlash Over Faith | JQJO

Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim mayoral candidate in New York City, secured a landslide victory in the Democratic primary. His win, potentially making him the city's first South Asian mayor, has sparked intense backlash from Hindu nationalist groups in India and within the Indian diaspora. Critics accuse him of being anti-Hindu and anti-India, citing his outspoken condemnation of human rights abuses, particularly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. However, supporters believe his campaign can mobilize Indian American voters and counter anti-Muslim sentiment.
