A wildfire, dubbed the Madre Fire, rapidly spread across southeastern San Luis Obispo County, California, becoming the state's largest blaze this year. Fueled by dry weather and strong winds, it scorched over 82 square miles and was only 10% contained. Evacuation orders were issued for nearby communities, and a section of State Route 166 was closed. Meanwhile, the smaller Wolf Fire in Southern California reached 55% containment, and a separate incident in Pacoima resulted in four destroyed homes and one critical injury.
