Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross are stepping away from HBO's "The Last of Us" after completing work on season 2. Druckmann, the game's creator and co-creator of the series, cited a need to focus on Naughty Dog's next game, "Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet," and his studio responsibilities. Gross, a writer and executive producer on the series, also announced her departure. Craig Mazin will continue as showrunner for season 3, while Druckmann will remain an executive producer. The show's success has earned critical acclaim and high ratings for HBO.
