The USMNT edged past Costa Rica 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Gold Cup quarterfinals. The US team overcame an early deficit and a blown second-half lead, only to relinquish another lead in the shootout. Goalkeeper Matt Freese, however, made three crucial saves, securing the victory. The USMNT will now face Guatemala in the semifinals.
