James Walkinshaw, former chief of staff to the late Rep. Gerry Connolly, secured the Democratic nomination for Virginia's 11th Congressional District special election. He won Saturday's primary with 59.54% of the vote, defeating state Sen. Stella Pekarsky and state Del. Irene Shin. Walkinshaw, who served on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, campaigned on opposing Trump's agenda and protecting federal workers. His campaign received significant outside funding, exceeding $2.4 million. He will face Republican Stewart Whitson in the September election, where he is heavily favored.
