Iran's judiciary reported that at least 71 people, including staff, soldiers, prisoners, and visitors, died in an Israeli attack on Tehran's Evin prison on June 23rd. The attack, which targeted several prison buildings, occurred a day before a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. The casualty figures haven't been independently verified. The incident followed an Israeli attack on "regime targets" in Tehran and was overshadowed by a subsequent Iranian attack on a U.S. base in Qatar. Human rights groups criticized Israel for the attack and condemned Iran's response.
