Russian President Vladimir Putin stated he wouldn't rule out seizing Sumy, Ukraine, to establish a border buffer zone, despite claiming no such objective. He justified this by citing constant shelling from Sumy into Russian border areas. Putin reiterated his view that Ukrainians and Russians are one people, asserting that all of Ukraine is inherently Russian territory.
