Listeria Outbreak Recalls Alfredo Meals, Causes Deaths

A nationwide listeria outbreak linked to ready-to-eat chicken fettuccine Alfredo meals has resulted in a recall of products from Kroger and Walmart. The outbreak, investigated by the USDA's FSIS and FDA, has caused 17 illnesses, three deaths, and one fetal loss. FreshRealm, Inc., the manufacturer, initiated a voluntary recall of specific Home Chef and Marketside branded meals with best-by dates prior to June 27, 2025. Consumers are urged not to consume recalled products and should return them to the store or discard them. Listeria can cause serious illness, especially in pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems.
