NYC Comptroller Brad Lander was arrested during a protest at an immigration court, joining several other elected officials recently facing similar encounters. Lander, monitoring court activity and escorting asylum seekers, was arrested after trying to prevent the arrest of a man. Other incidents involved Sen. Alex Padilla being forcibly removed from a news conference, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka arrested for trespassing (charges dropped), Rep. LaMonica McIver facing assault charges, and Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan arrested for obstruction. These arrests highlight escalating tensions surrounding immigration enforcement.
