A new study reviewing 24 studies involving 200 million people reveals a significant link between marijuana use and increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and death from cardiovascular disease. Researchers found a 29% higher risk of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), a 20% higher risk of stroke, and double the risk of cardiovascular death among marijuana users. With nearly 18 million daily or near-daily users in the US, the researchers urge stricter regulation similar to tobacco, increased public awareness, and inclusion of marijuana use in cardiovascular risk assessments.
