Led by Dr. Ghassem Gozaliasl, the COSMOS-Web team used JWST's infrared detectors to observe thousands of galaxies, spanning billions of light-years. This deep-sky survey helps researchers study galaxy evolution, including how galaxies interact, merge, and form stars. The image showcases a variety of galaxy shapes and colors, with older, more distant galaxies appearing redder. The data will help scientists understand galaxy formation during the epoch of reionization and the relationship between a galaxy's stellar mass and its halo.
