Google is preparing a mandatory software update for some Pixel 6a phones to reduce battery capacity after 400 charge cycles due to potential overheating concerns. This follows reports of Pixel 6a devices catching fire. The update will limit battery performance and Google will recommend battery replacements. While the support page isn't yet live, Google has confirmed the update and will contact affected users next month.
