Sovereignty, the Kentucky Derby winner, triumphed in the 157th Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, edging out the favorite, Journalism. The race, run at a slightly shorter distance than usual due to Belmont Park renovations, saw Sovereignty make a late surge to overtake Journalism in the final stretch. Baeza finished third, mirroring its Kentucky Derby result. Sovereignty's win, however, did not secure a Triple Crown title as he skipped the Preakness Stakes. The last Triple Crown winner was Justify in 2018.
