UK doctors are using "poo pills," containing freeze-dried fecal matter from healthy donors, to combat antibiotic-resistant superbugs. Early trials on 41 patients at Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals show promising results, with the good bacteria persisting in the gut for at least a month and potentially outcompeting superbugs. This innovative approach aims to address the growing threat of superbugs, which kill millions annually, by restoring healthy gut flora and reducing the reservoir of resistance in the bowels.
