A measles outbreak in the U.S. has reached at least 1,168 confirmed cases across 33 states, a fourfold increase from 2024 and nearing a 30-year high. The CDC reports 95% of cases are in unvaccinated individuals or those with unknown vaccination status. Two school-aged children and one adult have died. Texas accounts for a significant portion of cases, mainly among the unvaccinated. Lower vaccination rates in recent years are a contributing factor, with the MMR vaccine's effectiveness at 97% with two doses.
