A 41-year-old Seattle mountaineer, Alex Chiu, died after a 3,000-foot fall from Mount McKinley on June 2nd. His climbing partners reported the fall at Squirrel Point on the West Buttress route. Due to weather conditions, recovery was delayed until June 4th. Park rangers recovered Chiu's body and transferred it to the medical examiner. The investigation is ongoing, with approximately 500 climbers currently on the mountain.
