Pacers coach Rick Carlisle expressed surprise at the Knicks' firing of Tom Thibodeau, calling it unexpected given his respect for Thibodeau and the latter's success in turning around the Knicks. Carlisle, also president of the National Basketball Coaches Association, noted the high turnover rate among championship-winning coaches. Despite the Knicks' playoff run, ownership decided a change was needed. Carlisle believes Thibodeau will quickly find another coaching position.
