Dollar General Raises Forecast Amid Economic Uncertainty

Dollar General, the largest US dollar store chain, reported a 2.4% sales jump from February to April, exceeding expectations. This increase is attributed to shoppers trading down from pricier stores amid economic uncertainty and tariff concerns. Despite anticipating consumer spending cuts, Dollar General raised its net sales growth forecast to 3.7%-4.7% for the year ending January 2026, a 0.3% increase over prior projections. The company plans to mitigate tariff impacts by negotiating with suppliers and diversifying sourcing. The positive forecast boosted Dollar General's stock price by over 12%.
