Low-Hanging Strawberry Moon Rises This Week

Read, Watch or Listen

The Strawberry Moon, the final full moon of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, will be visible on June 10th evening. This year's Strawberry Moon will be exceptionally low in the sky, as it's the lowest full moon of the year for viewers north of the equator and also one of the farthest from the sun. Its low position is due to the proximity of the summer solstice. The moon's name derives from the ripening of wild strawberries and various other cultural names exist.
