Vitamin D Slows Biological Aging, Study Finds

Read, Watch or Listen

A new study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that daily vitamin D3 supplements may slow biological aging. Researchers tracked over 1,000 adults (men over 50, women over 55) for four years, finding that vitamin D3 reduced telomere shortening, a marker of biological aging, equivalent to almost three years. Omega-3 fatty acids showed no similar effect. While more research is needed, the findings indicate vitamin D supplementation could be a promising strategy to counter aging at a cellular level. Consult a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen.
