Over 100,000 Entergy customers in New Orleans and surrounding areas experienced a power outage Sunday afternoon due to a "load shed" initiated by the grid operator, MISO, to prevent a larger blackout. The outage, impacting the East Bank of New Orleans, Metairie, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parish, was intentional to prevent grid overload. Entergy initially estimated restoration by 7 p.m., but later stated the time is unclear pending updates from MISO. Customers are urged to monitor Entergy's app and website for updates.
