The Liberia-flagged container ship ELSA 3, operated by MSC, capsized off the coast of India due to flooding. All 24 crew members were safely rescued by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The ICG is assessing the situation, monitoring potential environmental risks from spilled containers and hazardous cargo (including calcium carbide), and coordinating with state authorities for cleanup efforts. No oil spill has been reported yet, but coastal areas remain on high alert.
