Riyadh to Build World's Largest Airport

Read, Watch or Listen

Saudi Arabia has approved a massive new airport project in Riyadh, aiming to create the world's largest airport by 2030. The 57-square-kilometer complex will include six runways and 12 square kilometers of residential areas. Designed by Norman Foster and targeting LEED Platinum certification, the airport is projected to handle 120 million passengers annually by 2030, rising to 185 million by 2050. This "aerotropolis" concept aims to make Riyadh a global aviation hub and boost its economic standing among the world's top 10 cities.
