Boeing Agrees to $1.1 Billion Settlement in 737 Max Case

Read, Watch or Listen

The Justice Department has reached a deal with Boeing to avoid criminal prosecution for misleading regulators about the 737 Max, which crashed twice killing 346 people. Boeing will pay over $1.1 billion, including $445 million to victims' families. In return, the fraud charge will be dropped. While the DOJ calls this the most just outcome, some victims' families strongly object, viewing the settlement as insufficient and an inadequate response to the deadliest corporate crime in US history. The deal replaces a previous rejected plea bargain.
