Male capuchin monkeys on Jicarón Island, Panama, were observed abducting baby howler monkeys over 15 months. Five male capuchins carried 11 different infants, seemingly for amusement rather than care or predation. The howler monkeys eventually died due to lack of maternal care. Researchers theorize boredom, mirroring purposeless, destructive human behaviors, as a possible explanation for this unusual behavior.
