Louisiana's largest antebellum mansion, the Nottoway Resort, was completely destroyed by a massive fire on May 15, 2025. The fire, which began around 2:10 p.m. Thursday, required ten fire departments to contain it. Sheriff's officials confirmed no injuries but are investigating the cause. The 166-year-old mansion, a significant historical landmark, is considered a devastating loss for the state.
