The FDA has approved Teal Health's at-home cervical cancer screening device, the Teal Wand, marking the first such U.S. approval. This self-collection test, using a swab to collect a vaginal sample for HPV detection, aims to increase screening rates and reduce the discomfort associated with traditional Pap smears. Studies show at-home testing is as effective as in-office screenings and is highly preferred by women. The device, available by prescription next month in California, targets women aged 25-65 at average risk, and Teal Health is working on insurance coverage.
