Apple Found in Contempt, Must End Anticompetitive Practices

Read, Watch or Listen

A judge ruled Apple in "willful violation" of a 2021 injunction, ordering it to cease anticompetitive practices regarding in-app purchases. Epic Games sued Apple for continuing to charge commissions on purchases made via third-party links, despite a previous court order. The judge found Apple's actions aimed at maintaining its billions-dollar revenue stream, and referred the case to the US Attorney for potential criminal contempt proceedings. Apple was also sanctioned with Epic's attorney fees and plans to appeal.
