His simple coffin, in keeping with his wishes, lies on the main altar. The basilica reopened at 7 am after remaining open until 5:30 am. Francis' funeral mass will be held Saturday, attended by world leaders, before his burial at the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, breaking tradition. Speculation mounts regarding his successor, with a conclave expected after May 5th.
