New research from Trinity College Dublin reveals that the brain stores memories of cold experiences, influencing metabolic responses. Mice trained to associate visual cues with cold temperatures exhibited increased metabolism upon seeing these cues, even at room temperature. This response was linked to specific memory-encoding neurons in the hippocampus, which activate brown fat to generate heat.
