Google Photos is rolling out an Ultra HDR editing tool, replacing the standard HDR effect. This new feature enhances brightness and color in existing photos using a simple slider. Ultra HDR images are smaller .jpg files, viewable on non-HDR devices without the enhanced effect. The tool is available in Google Photos version 7.24.0.747539053 within the Adjust section, though rollout may be gradual. Users can identify Ultra HDR images via a label on the image details page.
