A strong solar storm, caused by multiple coronal mass ejections from the sun, is expected to make colorful auroras visible across many northern US states and parts of the Midwest on Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service issued a geomagnetic storm watch. Minor storm conditions may persist into Thursday, offering another viewing opportunity. This increased solar activity is due to the sun currently experiencing solar maximum. While some minor technological disruptions are possible, major impacts are unlikely.
