Microsoft Research developed debug-gym, a tool to enhance AI's debugging capabilities in software development. Current AI models struggle significantly with debugging, a major part of a programmer's work. Debug-gym provides AI models with access to debugging tools like setting breakpoints and inspecting variables, improving their debugging performance. While improved, AI remains far from human-level debugging proficiency, according to Microsoft's findings. The tool is available on GitHub.
