Kathleen Sgamma withdrew her nomination to head the Bureau of Land Management. Sgamma, head of the Western Energy Alliance, had previously criticized President Trump's role in the January 6th Capitol attack. The White House accepted her withdrawal and will nominate a replacement. Environmental groups expressed relief, while some Republicans voiced support for Sgamma's continued advocacy for the Trump administration's energy agenda. Sgamma's past statements downplaying fossil fuels' impact on climate change and her refusal to disclose Western Energy Alliance members may have also contributed to the withdrawal.
