Senator Josh Hawley is demanding that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg testify before Congress following explosive allegations from whistleblower Sarah Wynn-Williams. Wynn-Williams, a former Facebook policy executive, accuses Zuckerberg and Meta of prioritizing Chinese market access over US national security, lying to Congress, and creating censorship tools at the behest of the Chinese Communist Party. Hawley's request for Zuckerberg's testimony stems from Wynn-Williams' claims, which include allegations of Meta providing sensitive technology briefings to the CCP and blocking accounts of dissidents under pressure from China. Meta denies Wynn-Williams' allegations, while Hawley considers her testimony a crucial test of whether Meta executives have lied to Congress.
