Houston: Artemis II astronauts completed a lunar flyby and on Tuesday placed an audio call to colleagues aboard the International Space Station while returning to Earth, marking the first moonship-to-spaceship radio link and transmitting imagery including an Earthset photo sent by commander Reid Wiseman.

The Orion capsule later passed the point where Earth's gravity again outweighs the Moon's pull; the four-person crew—Christina Koch, Victor Glover, Reid Wiseman and Jeremy Hansen—are scheduled to splash down off San Diego on Friday, with NASA recovery and post-mission analysis to follow.

Augusta, Ga. — Gary Woodland returned to Augusta National this week after winning the Houston Open two weeks ago, and on Tuesday he described ongoing PTSD symptoms stemming from a September 2023 brain surgery, saying he experienced hypervigilance and believed people were trying to kill him during competition.

Woodland's disclosures prompted descriptions of Tour security and medical support this week; tournament officials and his team are assisting his participation, he secured his Masters spot with the Houston win, and organizers acknowledged coordination to accommodate his safety and well-being during the event.

Budapest, Hungary — Vice President J.D. Vance told supporters Tuesday he expects Iran to respond before an 8 p.m. ET deadline while meeting Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of Orbán's reelection bid, and described U.S. military objectives as largely accomplished amid talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Hours earlier a ceasefire was reported, with Iran agreeing to reopen strategic waterways and the United States and allies halting strikes; Vance called the arrangement a 'fragile truce' and officials said negotiations and verification would continue this week under the time-sensitive terms.

Atlanta — Delta Air Lines announced this week that it will raise checked-bag fees on domestic and some short international flights, increasing the first bag to $45, the second to $55 and the third to $200, with ticket purchases subject to new pricing from April 8.

The increases follow similar moves by United and JetBlue amid surging jet fuel costs driven by Middle East tensions; Delta cited roughly $400 million in added fuel expense in the fourth quarter, preserved elite and military exemptions, and said the changes reflect evolving global conditions.

HOUSTON — NASA's Artemis II crew released 'Earthset' photographs during their return from a record-setting lunar flyby on April 7, capturing Earth setting behind the Moon and recording audio and imagery from the Orion capsule while more than 4,000 miles beyond the lunar surface.

The four-person U.S.-Canadian crew — Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, Victor Glover and Jeremy Hansen — are scheduled to splash down in the Pacific on April 10; NASA and scientists this week began downlink analysis of imagery and telemetry to inform follow-on Artemis missions.

Augusta, Ga. — Multiple Masters-week developments unfolded as organizers and media prepared for the tournament this week: Ace Jet data show nearly 3,900 private charter flights in 2025, Rory McIlroy hosted the 2025 Champions Dinner, and broadcasters finalized staffing and player lists ahead of play starting Thursday.

The developments prompted operational responses this week: local airports and services adjusted for increased arrivals, SiriusXM added Kevin Kisner as a weekend analyst, CBS published a 91-player field ranking for the 2026 Masters, and merchandise and revenue estimates—merchandise near $70 million—were reiterated.

United States: President Donald Trump warned on Tuesday that "a whole civilisation will die tonight" if Iran did not meet his deadline to end its de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz, posting the threat on Truth Social and setting a midnight GMT/8pm ET ultimatum.

The warning included threats to destroy Iranian bridges and power plants; Iran rejected a temporary cease-fire and demanded a full end to the war, while media reports on Wednesday cited alleged strikes on Kharg Island and increased international calls for de-escalation.

Washington reported that U.S. forces conducted airstrikes on Kharg Island in Iran early Tuesday, striking dozens of military targets, U.S. officials said; the operation was described as air-only with no ground troops involved and aimed at neutralizing defensive and logistical capabilities.

Officials said the strikes did not hit oil infrastructure and some targets had been previously struck; Vice President JD Vance said the action did not change U.S. strategy, Pentagon officials canceled a scheduled briefing, and leaders issued deadlines and statements this week.

Chicago — Researchers at Boston University's Concussion and CTE Center announced Tuesday that Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve 'Mongo' McMichael was found to have stage-three chronic traumatic encephalopathy following postmortem brain examination; McMichael died in April 2025 at age 67 after a five-year battle with ALS.

This week McMichael’s wife said she donated his brain to inspire research into a CTE–ALS connection; Boston University cited pathological evidence including TDP-43 inclusions, referenced prior 2021 studies showing elevated ALS risk among NFL players, and indicated findings will inform further neuropathological research and awareness efforts.

MILWAUKEE: On April 7, 2026 Ademi LLP announced investigations into six recently announced mergers and acquisitions involving Terns, Kezar, Apellis, Olaplex, Centessa, and Equitable, asserting potential breaches of fiduciary duty and noting specific deal terms and insider benefits in each transaction.

The notices cite cash per-share payments, contingent value rights and stock exchange ratios and state that restrictive provisions could limit competing bids; Ademi said it will review board conduct and deal documents, and encouraged shareholders to contact the firm this week regarding possible legal claims.
