Greta Lee has bid farewell to The Morning Show: in season four’s sixth episode, her character Stella Bak walks away after an AI rollout implodes, her affair is exposed, and she’s left alone at an airport. Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt and Lee confirm the exit, calling it time for Stella to rediscover herself. Lee cites scheduling challenges amid other projects and says the goodbye was bittersweet, recalling illness during the AI presentation shoot and painful scenes with colleagues. New episodes continue to stream Wednesdays.

Russia unleashed drones and missiles across Ukraine, killing at least seven people — including two children — and injuring 27, officials said. A kindergarten in Kharkiv was hit, and Kyiv endured a night of ballistic-missile warnings, explosions and emergency power cuts as energy sites were targeted. Hours earlier, US President Donald Trump said an imminent Budapest summit with Vladimir Putin was shelved to avoid a "wasted meeting," though the Kremlin said preparations continued. Visiting Norway, Volodymyr Zelensky said the strikes showed insufficient pressure on Moscow and tied the summit setback to his unfulfilled request for US Tomahawk missiles.

A wave of promotions has left U.S. shoppers with "discount burnout," AlixPartners reports, complicating Black Friday and Cyber Monday plans. Surveying 9,000 consumers across 140 retailers, the firm found the weight shoppers place on price fell 13% year over year, and 30% fewer said sales are "very important"; even off-price deal hunting slid from first to 19th. After tariff-related promotions, fatigue has set in. Consumers now favor consistent pricing, value, quality and better stores, as in-store time fell 3% and basket size 5%. Discounts alone, the report warns, may no longer move the needle.

Gaza health officials say at least 135 mutilated Palestinian bodies returned by Israel came from the Sde Teiman base, a detention site already accused of torture and deaths in custody. Photos reportedly show some victims blindfolded with hands tied; doctors allege murder, summary executions and systematic torture. The IDF said it asked the prison service to investigate. Meanwhile, an 11-day Gaza ceasefire wobbled after Israeli airstrikes and an aid cutoff; vice-president JD Vance arrived in Israel. Separately, the Ninth Circuit may rehear Trump’s Oregon Guard case. An AWS outage triggered 8.1m problem reports.

Hulu’s remake of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, directed by Michelle Garza Cervera from Micah Bloomberg’s script, is faulted for draining the original’s lurid charge and turning its mother–nanny duel into a muddled contest of instability. Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Caitlin hires Maika Monroe’s quietly menacing Polly as small sabotages mount while Raúl Castillo’s Miguel doubts his wife. The film teases backstory, flirts with undercooked queer tension, and leans on a moody score, yet delivers glacial pacing, scant suspense, and inorganic violence. Slick but insipid, it feels like a Lifetime movie and disposable beside the original’s box-office success.

The first general-election mayoral debate framed a generational clash: Andrew Cuomo, now running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary, stressed his long record, while 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani leaned on integrity and progressive plans like rent freezes and free buses. Polls show Mamdani leading by double digits, with strong support from younger voters and upbeat, viral social media as Cuomo plays catch-up. Analysts say Cuomo’s controversies and traditional style contrast with Mamdani’s tone and ideas. Early voting is underway ahead of the Nov. 4 election.

Russia launched an early Wednesday air assault across much of Ukraine, cutting power in most regions and igniting homes. At least six people were killed — including a six‑month‑old — and 25 were injured in Kyiv alone, after drones, missiles and jets struck energy sites and residential towers. Fires tore through high‑rises in the capital; a kindergarten in Kharkiv was hit, though children were evacuated. The barrage came hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said a shelved summit with Vladimir Putin might be a “waste of time.” Volodymyr Zelensky urged the EU and U.S. to tighten pressure on Russia.

Poland has detained eight people on suspicion of preparing sabotage, prosecutors said, alleging links to Russian intelligence. One detainee, a Ukrainian national, is accused of plans to send explosive materials to Ukraine. Two Ukrainians, aged 21 and 24, were caught in Romania after leaving parcels with improvised incendiary devices at a Bucharest courier, authorities there confirmed. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the case is ongoing. Polish prosecutors say the aim was to intimidate populations and destabilise EU countries supporting Ukraine. Officials also cited reconnaissance of military and critical infrastructure.

Paul Ingrassia, President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Office of Special Counsel, withdrew after reports of offensive texts he allegedly sent sparked Republican opposition. Ingrassia, 30, said he lacked the votes, and a White House official confirmed he is no longer the nominee. Politico reported messages in which he described a “Nazi streak” and denounced holidays honoring Black Americans. His lawyer questioned the messages’ authenticity. Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Florida Senator Rick Scott signaled no support, while Democrat Chuck Schumer called the alleged messages “foul and disqualifying.”

At least 63 people were killed after two buses and two other vehicles crashed after midnight near Kiryandongo on Uganda’s highway to Gulu, police said, calling it one of the country’s worst recent road disasters. Police said the buses, traveling in opposite directions, collided head-on during overtaking maneuvers. Several others were injured; most are being treated at a nearby government hospital. A Red Cross spokeswoman described victims with broken limbs and scenes too gruesome to share. Police urged caution as fatalities rise, while a road safety advocate decried weak nighttime enforcement.
