Apple will disable automatic Wi‑Fi credential syncing between iPhone and Apple Watch for European Union users in iOS 26.2, according to a report that Apple reportedly confirmed to Numerama. The change, tied to the EU’s Digital Markets Act and a year-end compliance deadline aligning with next month’s release, means watches may need manual password entry when the phone is out of range, with credentials then likely stored on the watch. Apple has criticized the rules, warned of privacy risks, and appealed the Commission’s decision in EU court.

Zohran Mamdani won New York City’s mayoral race on a promise to freeze rents for roughly two million rent stabilized tenants, but the housing battles awaiting him start well before any vote. He vowed to revive ailing NYCHA buildings, where $78 billion in repairs loom. He plans to evict Elizabeth Street Garden to restart affordable housing there, drawing fierce pushback. As Airbnb allies seek to ease the city’s short term rental crackdown ahead of next year’s World Cup, landlords are mobilizing: a new Gotham Housing Alliance founded by Humberto Lopes says it will fight his agenda.

CarMax shares fell 10% in premarket trading Thursday after the used car retailer issued a weak preliminary outlook and said CEO Bill Nash will step down. The company expects third-quarter comparable used unit sales to drop 8% to 12% and earnings per share of 18 to 36 cents, including 9 cents in non-recurring costs tied to leadership changes and workforce reductions. Board member David McCreight will serve as interim CEO, and Chair Tom Folliard becomes interim executive chair, effective Dec. 1. William Blair downgraded the stock. CarMax shares are down 50% in 2025; results are due Dec. 18.

Five days after a remarkable postseason, the 2025-26 MLB Free Agent Big Board arrives: a top 50 ranked by Tim Britton, Aaron Gleeman, Chad Jennings and Eno Sarris, with stats, contract projections, best fits and instant analysis as signings happen. The class runs deep, from Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette to Pete Alonso and Munetaka Murakami, plus arms like Framber Valdez and Dylan Cease. Ages are as of June 30, 2025; 2025 stats and FanGraphs WAR are used, and every team appears among the fits. In prior years, the Dodgers signed the most and then won the World Series.

A controversy over Nick Fuentes’s rise has exposed tensions on the right as national conservatism struggles to distance itself from explicit bigotry. After Tucker Carlson interviewed him, Republicans including Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Mitch McConnell and Mike Johnson condemned it, even as parts of the movement echo Fuentes on identity and immigration. Vice President JD Vance and Senator Eric Schmitt sketched visions skeptical of mass immigration and civic identity. Amid leaked racist chats, a withdrawn nomination and a power vacuum after Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Fuentes asserts leverage while conservatives dispute elites, Israel and the party’s direction.

After a chaotic trade deadline, a new Round 1 mock draft envisions how four teams with extra 2026 firsts — the Jets, Cowboys, Browns and Rams — could shape April. It slots Ohio State’s do-it-all defender Arvell Reese to the Jets at No. 1, followed by Miami edge Rueben Bain Jr. to the Titans and Auburn lineman Keldric Faulk to the Saints. Utah tackle Spencer Fano lands with the Giants, and Ohio State safety Caleb Downs with the Dolphins, as quarterback and edge needs ripple throughout the board.

On day 37 of the shutdown, President Trump pressed Republicans to scrap the Senate filibuster as Democrats, buoyed by election wins, resist. Bipartisan talks are exploring a short-term funding bill and limited appropriations, though expiring health care subsidies remain a hurdle. The Supreme Court heard arguments on Trump’s tariff authority under a 1977 law, with justices sounding skeptical. In Chicago, a judge weighs extending limits on federal agents’ use of force after stark testimony. Elsewhere, new tax changes chiefly aid the wealthy, and Misty Copeland took a farewell bow.

Sacramento edged Golden State 121-116 as Russell Westbrook notched his NBA-record 204th triple-double — and his first with the Kings — with 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. Dennis Schroder drilled three fourth-quarter threes in an 11-0 burst that broke a 104-104 tie, while DeMar DeRozan led Sacramento with 25. Will Richard scored 30 for the Warriors, Moses Moody 28 and Jonathan Kuminga 24, but Golden State committed 19 turnovers and missed a late chance. Both teams were short-handed, with Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine sidelined.

With a shutdown potentially stretching into Thanksgiving, air travel is bracing for turbulence. Air traffic controllers and TSA agents are working unpaid, and the FAA reports rising absences, prompting flight reductions. Staffing-linked delays have surfaced nationwide, and the Trump administration warns holiday disruptions could intensify. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said airline traffic will be cut 10% at 40 locations starting Friday. Experts expect more delays, cancellations, and longer TSA lines—possibly even after reopening—though they urge travelers to keep plans, book flexible fares, favor nonstop early flights, and allow extra time for security. Safety, officials stress, remains paramount.

Nick Fuentes’ podcast appearance with Tucker Carlson has set off a bitter rift on the right, roiling the Heritage Foundation. President Kevin Roberts defended Carlson, prompting internal revolt, donor unease and a chief of staff’s resignation. The Zionist Organization of America announced it was withdrawing from a Heritage antisemitism initiative unless Roberts reverses course. In an all-staff meeting, Roberts apologized for mishandling the controversy but said he won’t step down. Critics from within the GOP, including Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell, denounced the embrace of Fuentes, who has urged disruption as the Republican civil war spills into Heritage.
